Popsicle Shop Closure
Steel City Pops, the Alabama-based frozen sweets chain, closed up its last remaining Austin location on the Drag last week. The 3001 Guadalupe Street shop had been Steel City’s first Austin location when it opened in September 2017. The company closed the Rock Rose location sometime earlier this summer too.
Cedar Park Gets Its First Hopdoddy
The next new location of Austin-based fast-casual chain Hopdoddy Burger Bar is opening in Cedar Park today, Monday, November 4 at 1320 East Whitestone Boulevard. On deck are its usual menu of burgers, milkshakes, french fries, and drinks. Partial sales of the Good Night/Good Cause Burger will go towards HAAM. The restaurant is hosting a party for the debut on Saturday, November 9 with music and food/drink specials from 3 to 6 p.m. Additionally, the first 100 guests in line that morning will receive free burgers for a year via a voucher book.
Austin Food Truck Expands Into Liquor
Ranch Hand, the Austin food truck that took over the restaurant at East Austin upscale hostel Native, is opening its own line of canned cocktails called Ranch Rider Spirits Co. There will be three tequila and vodka-based libations: Ranch Water, tequila paloma, and The Chilton, available starting in December at bars, restaurants, and liquor shops. Co-founders Brian Murphy and Quentin Cantu decided to start the canned cocktail line because they wanted drinks made without artificial sweeteners, preservatives, and coloring (Ranch Rider makes use of sparkling water and juices).

New-school barbecue truck LeRoy & Lewis will make an appearance on Cooking Channel television show The Best Thing I Ever Ate tonight, Monday 4, airing at 8 p.m
