Rosedale Bar Doc’s Motorworks Is Closing on West 38th Street

Restaurant Shutter
Rosedale bar and restaurant Doc’s Motorworks is closing its 1106 West 38th Street location, as reported by Austin 360. Its final day will be on Sunday, November 24. The Doc’s in Sunset Valley on Brodie Lane will remain open, though. Doc’s also had to shutter its South Congress location back in 2016 because it had to be demolished for that whole Music Lane development, and the Houston location closed in 2017. Doc’s owner Charles Milligan noted that he’s working on a new restaurant up in Cedar Park.

Wurstfest Fire
There was a fire at New Braunfels German festival Wurstfest early this morning, within one of the vendor booths, as reported by mySA, with smoke engulfing the entire plaza. No one was hurt, but a building’s roof partially collapsed.

Food Truck Explosion
Food truck RonDooley exploded in San Marcos yesterday, as reported by CBS Austin, at the Allo Eatery food truck court. No one was hurt, but two neighborhood trucks and several buildings were damaged. The cause is still being determined.

Texas Brewery Rankings
Both Jester King Brewery and ABGB landed on online publication Paste’s best breweries of the decade list. Of the former, it wrote that it became “perhaps the most generally outstanding and sought-after of all the U.S. wild ale specialists. Of the latter, it pointed to its Great American Beer Festival gold medals.

Similarly, Austin Chronicle released its annual rankings of the best breweries in Austin this week. At the top is Austin Beerworks, because of its beers and its involvement with the passing of the beer-to-go bill.

Texas Loves Thai Delivery
Delivery service DoorDash shared that the most popular ordered item in Texas of the past year is pad thai.
