The beloved gang of the Bon Appetit Test Kitchen (BATK) is coming to Austin next year as part of the massive South by Southwest (SXSW) festival and conference. While this isn’t an actual cooking demonstration, the group will talk about the videos, cooking, etc.

This includes BATK’s Brad Leone, Claire Saffitz, Andy Baraghani, Molly Baz, Chris Morocco, Carla Lalli, and Alex Delany. Some of them oversee their own specific shows, Leone of It’s Alive (where he explores fermentation and meats), Saffitz of Gourmet Makes (where she tries to make her own versions of mass-produced sweets and snacks), etc. A press release for the festival boasts that this is the first time they will speak together outside of the New York Kitchen. It’s part of the Connection & Culture track.

BATK is found on the food publication’s YouTube channel, where the group creates short how-to cooking videos. The videos became so popular, there are now avid fans of the YouTube channel and/or particular chefs.

Washington D.C. chef, James Beard award winner, Top Chef alum, and author Kwame Onwuachi was announced as a keynote speaker for the festival earlier this fall.

Other keynotes and speakers include writer Erin Lee Carr, Pink Floyd member Roger Waters, Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent), actor/activist Sophia Bush, comedian/writer/actor Phoebe Robinson, among others. SXSW takes place from Friday, March 13 through Sunday, March 22, 2020.
