Butler Park Pitch & Putt, a public golf course near Auditorium Shores in the Bouldin Creek neighborhood, is adding food and beverage service as part of a major revamp, with Olamaie chef Michael Fojtasek collaborating on the menu. The clubhouse renovation at 201 Lee Barton Drive is expected to complete this winter.

Hospitality group New Waterloo is behind the revamp of Butler Park. This is the company’s first collaboration with Fojtasek, who was a James Beard Award finalist this year. No information is available yet on the menu (probably biscuits of some sort), but the clubhouse is adding outdoor seating.

The restaurant group also oversees downtown Mexican restaurant La Condesa, Thai restaurant Sway, downtown French restaurant Le Politique, Italian sandwich shop La Matta, East Sixth Italian spot Il Brutto, and all the restaurants in the South Congress Hotel

Butler Park Pitch & Putt opened in 1949 as a nine-hole golf course. Pecan Grove Golf Partners, which includes members of New Waterloo and golf industry veterans Jason Black and Lynn Shackelford, is overseeing the improvements, which also include updates to the course.

This is not the only new venture for Fojtasek. He’s opening a diner/bakery, Mignette, in the St. Elmo Public Market, though construction has delayed the opening to spring 2020.
