Nickel City, one of the best bars in Austin, dressed up as longtime animated television series The Simpsons for the second year in a row. Specifically, the 1133 East 11th Street bar is now Moe’s Tavern as of last Friday, October 25 through Sunday, November 3.

New this year includes turning next-door liquor shop J & J Spirits into the cartoon series’s comic book shop The Android’s Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop and converting Nickel City’s cash-only back bar into the Springfield DMV, as CultureMap Austin reported. Nickel City itself has been turned into the show’s iconic bar Moe’s Tavern through new signage, window wraps, and props like the recognizable family couch, the Love Tester, and a red phone for prank calls inspired by Bart Simpson.

The cocktail menu will take the same cues, featuring many, many Simpsons references, from Flaming Moe (no cough syrup though), as well as Squishees (the bar’s frozen cocktails), and the beer section (redubbed as Duff beer). This year, the Malk Punch will be paired with doughnuts from chef Callie Speer of downtown Austin restaurant Holy Roller. (Last year, the bar partnered with for-now-closed food truck Republic Donuts.)

On-site food truck Delray Cafe is getting in on the fun with themed dishes pulled from the show, alongside that Krusty Burger. New are the vegan Mother Nature Burger and Barney’s Fried Bologna. Expect the staff to dress up like characters from the show, too.
