Now-trendy South Congress Avenue is going to look very, very different come spring 2020 when the ginormous Music Lane development slated for the Travis Heights neighborhood will open at 1011 and 1009 South Congress Avenue, north of Academy Drive. To make room for the development, several businesses and buildings on the block, including Doc’s Motorworks Bar & Grill, had to closed in 2016, for the subsequent demolishment in 2017.
Based on the current proposed lineup, Music Lane seems to be aiming to turn the street into a more upscale affair than South Congress currently is. On deck mostly out-of-town and/or nationally known brands to Austin, from a bunch of boutiques focusing on clothing (clothing shop Reformation, perfume spot Le Labo, etc.), the members-only Soho House (with a public restaurant), a fancy Equinox, to bougie salad chain Sweetgreen’s first city location. There’s one local place thus far: Gelateria Gemelli.
With that, here are all the known restaurants and bars that will be found within Music Lane.
