All-hours cafe and bar Buzz Mill Coffee is opening its second Austin location at 5012 East Seventh Street on Halloween, Thursday, October 31, in the Govalle neighborhood. On deck is a new barbecue truck courtesy of a Franklin Barbecue alum: JNL Barbecue from co-owners pitmaster Ben Lambert and Sarah Lambert.
Ben Lambert had been a brisket cook at Franklin for five years. Not much else is known about the barbecue truck, though. Based on its Instagram, there will be ribs and bacon. The smoker was made by Mill Scale Metalworks
Vegan burger trailer Plow Burger is also using this new Buzz Mill location to expand into the vegan barbecue world with Plow-B-Q. The “meats” — sausages, pulled pork, half-chickens, etc. — will be made with Beyond Meat, as indicated to Eater Austin earlier.
Roasted meats truck Austin Rotisserie will remain parked at this Seventh Street location within the shared space with relocated winery Infinite Monkey Theorem (which opened in the spring).
Nicknamed Buzz Mill Shady (after the nearby street), the team decided to open in the East Austin area because of the opportunity to partner with Infinite Monkey Theorem again. (Originally, Buzz Mill was supposed to open a new location at South Congress across the way from Infinite Monkey’s first Austin location, but those plans stopped because of landlord issues.)
