Potential Brewery Expansion
Austin brewery Circle Brewing Company is looking to either expand into or move to Elgin. Plans for the new location would include a brewery, event and music space, as well as food options and room to grow beer ingredients. Co-founder Ben Sabel isn’t sure if Circle will keep its original home on 2340 West Braker Lane or not.
Movie Theater Expansion
Alamo Drafthouse is expanding into a new state. This time, it’s Florida. The new Orlando theater with food and drink is expected to open in 2020.
Price of a Barbecue Restaurant
Sam’s Bar-B-Que owner Brian Mays has received several offers for his barbecue restaurant and its land at 2000 East 12th Street, from $3.5 million to $5 million. He told KXAN he wouldn’t sell, but he might consider doing so if he received a $10 million offer.
Musician’s Favorite Restaurant
Indie musician and singer Snail Mail (aka Lindsey Jordan) revealed her favorite Austin restaurant during a concert over the weekend: the vegan and vegetarian-friendly Bouldin Creek Cafe.
Another Downtown Hotel
A new Hyatt Centric hotel is coming to downtown Austin at Congress Avenue and 8th Street, taking the place of what had been pegged as that new mixed-use building without space for cars. The new hotel will remain garage-less, but will also include a restaurant and two bars. It will open sometime in the middle of 2019.
Italian Restaurant Update
It looks like Osteria Pronto, the Italian restaurant within the downtown JW Marriott hotel, is undergoing a refresher. Its name will change to OP Italian, and there will be an updated space, plus new menu, according to the Poached listing for staff. It’s expected to debut in February.
