Beloved Austin chef Jack Gilmore is expanding his Round Rock seafood restaurant, Salt Traders Coastal Cooking, with a second location down in South Austin. It’ll be found at 1101 South Mopac Expressway in the Barton Hills neighborhood, taking over the vacated Texas Land and Cattle sometime in 2019.
This is by far the chef’s closest Central Austin location after the Jack Allen’s Kitchen on West Anderson Lane. Dubbed Salt Traders Zilker, the new location will offer up the same seafood-focused menu with comforting dishes like oysters, chowder fries, fish tacos and enchiladas, and much more, plus cocktails, wine, and beer.
Along with Gilmore and business partner Tom Kamm, the second Salt Traders staff includes general manager Parker Richardson, culinary director Chris Ten Eyck, and beverage director David Toby. The space is being designed by Levy Architects.
Gilmore’s first Austin restaurant, Jack Allen’s Kitchen, currently includes four locations across the Austin area. He opened Salt Traders in September 2016.
