— CNN political commentator Chris Cillizza posted a really sad and unflattering photo of barbecue captioned “God bless Texas,” with brisket, a slice of sausage, corn, and a smeared puddle of barbecue sauce from Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q. Rightly so, people replied back with much better depictions of Texas barbecue, including Texas Monthly barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn.

— Yet again, Jo’s Coffee’s “I Love You So Much” mural on South Congress was vandalized again on Friday, December 28. This time, the iconic saying was crossed out, and someone(s) added “SOLD OUT” to the wall. It was fixed immediately by Saturday morning. This isn’t the first time the iconic mural was defaced. It happened in 2017 (someone wrote “Fuck Austin”), 2015 (the saying was crossed out), and 2011 (someone tagged it).

— Because of the cold and rainy weather, barbecue truck Micklethwait Craft Meats is closed today. It will reopen tomorrow on Thursday, January 3.
