New Juice Bar Alert
Jugo, the juice shop from the chef Shawn Cirkiel and his restaurant group Parkside Projects, opened its second location up in Rosedale starting today, Wednesday, January 16. The North Lamar shop will feature fresh-pressed juices, smoothies, cold brew from Cuvee, and cold brew green teas, along with healthy food items like avocado deviled eggs, roasted squash, and beef bone broth. Jugo is also expanding into the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport sometime this summer, along with Cirkiel’s first Austin restaurant Parkside.

Inauguration Barbecue
As is tradition, Eddie Deen’s Barbecue smoked up lots of meats for Governor Greg Abbott’s inauguration yesterday at the Capitol. This is pitmaster Eddie Deen’s seventh time doing so, having served food for previous Texas governors like George W. Bush and Rick Perry. On deck were brisket (of course), sausages from San Antonio-based Kiolbassa Smoked Meats, potato salad, coleslaw, and more.

Accolades for Austin Bar
Like the rest of Austin, Garden & Gun realized what a great place Nickel City is by naming it one of the best bars in the South. The publication called out its no-frills but excellent cocktails approach.

Retail Juices & Adaptogen Lattes
Speaking of juices, Juice Society’s drinks are now available at all Austin locations of Whole Foods Market. The brick-and-mortar juice shop on South Lamar Boulevard is also now offering customizable adaptogen lattes, with various bases options like dandy blends, matcha, or coffee; milk (yes, oat is one), tonics, fats, sweet flavorings, and more.

Beer Dish Special
Brewers Association executive chef Adam Dulye cooked up a special dish for the Brewer’s Table, which will only be available today. The veal chop, which is hop-cured, will be served with a spent-grain and quinoa spaetzle, malted honey turnips, and a roasted barley jus.
