Metal music-loving pizzeria Hoeks Death Metal Pizza, which closed last summer after 25 years of serving pizza on Sixth Street, is back again with a new food truck. Under the same name, the food truck opened within the food trailer park at 1606 East 6th Street earlier this month.
Presumably, the same menu of simple pizza slices and pies will be available — cheese, pepperoni, or a combination of the two — as well as the same fondness for metal music. When the brick-and-mortar existed, the food truck had been used for events. Its new hours are from 7 p.m. to midnight Wednesday and Thursday, and from 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday.
Hoeks didn’t give a reason for its shutter last summer, but it did promise that the pizzeria would return. It originally opened in 1993 next to the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz, and then moved over to 511 East 6th Street.
