Cupcake and Pizza Bankruptcy
Sovrano, the parent company of Austin-based pizzeria Mr. Gatti’s and Nashville-based Gigi’s Cupcakes (whose Austin franchise was helmed by a group of NFL football players and former Longhorns), filed for bankruptcy. The Chapter 11 filing took place in Dallas last Friday. The locations of both restaurant chains will remain open in the meantime, Mr. Gatti’s has several Austin restaurants and Gigi’s operates in Bee Cave and Cedar Park (both have stores in other states too). 13 Austin-area Mr. Gatti’s were sold to Three Dough Boys LLC last fall.
