South Congress barbecue spot Louie’s BBQ is soon heading to Buda, Texas. Though the spot at 4329 South Congress Avenue has been closed since December, Louie’s is slated to reopen next Saturday, January 19, in central Buda.
Louie’s will continue to serve the same menu of Tex-Mex-influenced barbecue, like brisket, pulled pork, and sausage, and sides like mac and cheese and potato salad. Many meats also available in taco or sandwich form. Owner Luis Vasquez plans to offer new specials on the weekends as well.
Per Vasquez, the reason for the move is twofold. He felt the Austin trailer and barbecue scene were “getting a bit saturated,” and wanted to help Buda get on the barbecue map. Secondly, Saint Elmo Public Market is set to open at the same South Congress address in October, and Vasquez thought he should be proactive about moving.
Louie’s has been on South Congress since 2017, though Vasquez did catering events before then.
The hours at the Buda location are still TBD, but will likely be 11 a.m. until sold out.
