The Austin-area is getting its very first Bonchon, the popular Korean fried chicken chain, which is now open in Round Rock on 2800 South I-35. For now, the restaurant is open for dine-in dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday, according to a staffer.
Bonchon is most known for its Korean fried chicken, available in wings (bone-in or boneless) or drumsticks in spicy or soy garlic flavors. There are other Korean dishes available like bibimbap, bulgogi, japchae, tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cakes), kimchi, and more. Then there are other general Asian dishes too like potstickers, takoyaki, udon noodle soup, and shumai, plus tacos, sliders, and wraps. Beer will be served too.
Bonchon first began in South Korea in 2002, and opened its first American location in New Jersey in 2006. There are over 230 restaurants across the world, including three in Houston and one in the Dallas suburbs (there was an attempt at a Dallas proper restaurant in 2013, but it closed quickly).
