Charleston biscuit shop Callie’s Hot Little Biscuit and chef Carrie Morey are popping up in Austin with biscuits and brunch for two days. The biscuit pop-ups are timed to coincide with the Austin City Limits Music Festival’s first weekend, Saturday and Sunday, October 6 and 7.
The first pop-up takes place at the Line Hotel with biscuits, sandwiches, and dips, plus a DJ out at the pool’s hotel. Tickets are $40 and it runs from 9 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, October 6 at 111 East Cesar Chavez Street in downtown Austin. Scope out the full menu below.
The second is a brunch collaboration with chefs Jim Gilbert (of the Native) and Callie Speer (of Holy Roller) at the Native Hostel. The two chefs will create breakfast sandwiches using the Charleston biscuits. Everything will be available a la carte, and it takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 7 at 807 East 4th Street on the east side.
That brunch, dubbed “The Band of Biscuits,” is being thrown with Austin company Packed Party, which will also host a pop-up shop at the same time too. Partial proceeds from the brunch will go towards Packed’s Birthday Party Project, which organizes monthly birthday parties at homeless and transitional living facilities for children.
Morey is open to an Austin location of the shop, but there are no plans as of yet. She opened Callie’s Charleston Biscuits as a biscuit delivery company in 2005, and opened the counter-service shop in 2014, now with locations in Charleston as well as one in Atlanta.
