— Former Contigo culinary director PJ Edwards and former Jason Dady Restaurant Group general manager Lindsey Edwards are opening their San Antonio restaurant next week on Saturday, September 22 at 555 West Bitters Road. Meadow Neighborhood Eatery and Bar will serve general Texas and Southern fare, like burgers, Gulf shrimp, grilled ribeyes, grilled okra, and roasted acorn squash. It’ll start off with just dinner, and expand into brunch on Sunday, September 30.
— JuiceLand is opening its latest Austin-area shop out in Belterra Village on Saturday, September 15. The 165 Hargraves Drive shop will serve the same menu of smoothies, juices, shots, acai bowls, and grab-and-go dishes. For opening day, it’s giving away a free smoothie, the Home Run, to every customer. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and then from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. This is the Austin-based juice chain’s 23rd local store.
— Like most Austin restaurants, Kerbey Lane Cafe is finding it difficult to find workers, especially considering it’s opening a new location in Mueller and an entirely new restaurant on South Lamar, so much so, the restaurant mini-chain has to look outside of the state for employees.
— Bon Appetit dug into Texas’ best Tex-barbecue spots, leading off with Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ, of course, which offers up brisket tacos, loads of guacamole, and pitmaster Miguel Vidal’s barbacoa.
— Rosedale seafood restaurant Guild added brunch to its slate. The Sunday meal will include weekly dishes, like Dutch pancakes (sweet with berries or savory with eggs, bacon, and red-eye gravy), burgers, quiches with nori and smoked trout roe, oyster beignets, and a whole bunch of pastries like canales and profiteroles as well as $2 mimosas. It’s available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Sunday.
— For Urban Axe’s first birthday, the axe-throwing bar is offering free drinks throughout the weekend, from Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16.
— South Congress butcher shop Hudson Meat Market is opening its second location out in Marble Falls this weekend starting on Saturday, September 22, with a party full of sausages, beer, whiskey, dog popsicles, and music from noon to 4 p.m. It will be found at 1405 State Street.
