Lakeway bowling alley, bar, and restaurant High 5 is expanding with a second local location, bringing it closer to central Austin. Owners Jennifer and Scott Emley are taking over what had been the old Goodnight bowling alley bar found at 2700 West Anderson Lane in North Shoal Creek sometime in early November.
The second High 5 will feature food by chef David Hedger. This means a general all-around menu with chicken fried steak, burgers (meat and veggie ones), barbecue bacon-wrapped jalapenos with shrimp or chicken, and more.
As for drinks, there will be beers, wines, and cocktails with an emphasis on infused spirits. The establishment will be open to all-ages during the daytime and early evenings and switch to adults-only after 10 p.m. (read: more booze).
For entertainment, there will be eight bowling lanes, arcade games, karaoke, and virtual reality setups. There will be a patio, as well as a mural from artist Rory Skagen.
The Goodnight, the comparatively upscale bowling alley and bar, closed up its West Anderson Lane location in May because of failed landlord negotiations and competition in the neighborhood. It’s still opening a location right in downtown Austin on 506 West 6th Street, though there is no timeline at the moment.
The Emleys opened the Lakeway High 5 in January 2016.
