That east Austin hotel from the La Corsha Hospitality Group, which is in fact called East Austin Hotel will include one restaurant and two bars, one rooftop and one poolside, both of which will be open to the public. It’s set to open sometime in November on 1108 East 6th Street.
The full-service restaurant, Sixth and Waller, will feature comfort food drawing on international influences. This will mean sandwiches and other such entrees. There’s also an emphasis on house-made pies. It will include indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a full bar.
For drinks, there’s the rooftop bar dubbed Upside Bar, which will overlook East 6th Street, and then the poolside bar called the Pool Bar, both of which will be open to both hotel guests and the public.
Since it’s La Corsha Group overseeing the hotel, the company’s regional executive chef Jason Stude is involved with the food development. Overseeing the cocktails are director of beverage and bars Jason Stevens and wine director Paula Rester.
That East 6th address used to be home to cocktail bar Wonderland (which was run by La Corsha Hospitality Group) and food truck court East Side Fillin’ Station. Both closed at the end of March 2016, after South by Southwest. Before it was Wonderland in 2014 with plans for the hotel, the cocktail bar space was Cheer Up Charlie’s original address before it relocated to Red River.
The overall six-story hotel with 75 rooms is being designed by architecture firm Rhode Partners, Robin Kelley, Zocalo Design, and Kathy Steele.
La Corsha also runs all three locations of Second Bar + Kitchen, Boiler Nine Bar + Grill, and Green Pastures and on-site restaurant Mattie’s. There are also other various new hotels and hotel renovations. The group is reopening the renovated Stagecoach Inn in Salado, Texas over Labor Day weekend.
