— Texas’ favorite burger spot Whataburger redecorated the dorm room of Trinity University college student Enrique Alcoreza. The surprisingly tasteful makeover meant adding the fast food chain’s signature orange and white furniture, framed posters of the food and logos, and even condiment order pillows.
— A boba tea pop-up is taking over Rock Rose Chinese barbecue restaurant Lotus + Cleaver this weekend starting on Saturday, August 18. The Boba Boyz’ teas are made without any powders, emphasizing natural ingredients. The drinks range from black milk teas, spiced chai milk teas, matcha peach lattes, and watermelon teas. There will also be soft serve, with optional tea floaters. A portion of the sales will go towards cancer research nonprofit St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The boba teas will be regularly stocked in the restaurant as well.
— McDonald’s is bringing its self-serve kiosks to its Texas locations by next year.
— Pizza truck Li’l Nonnas is partnering with vegan truck Arlo’s for a vegan-friendly bac’n cheezeburger pie with tater tots. It’s available at the pizza truck’s Buzz Mill location during this weekend only.
— Asian restaurant Mongo Fire Mongolian Grill is closed on 12636 Research Boulevard. It shuttered sometime in July, but a Yelper noted that the far north space is being turned into an Indian restaurant.
