La Barbecue added a new dish to its smoked meats lineup, the Bobby Dawg, in honor of owner LeAnn Mueller’s father, Bobby. The jalapeno sausage comes topped with pinto beans, diced onions, shredded cheese, yellow mustard, and either pulled pork or chopped beef, all on a Martin’s potato roll. They used to make jalapeno sausages together at Louie Mueller Barbecue in Taylor, Texas.

— After last year’s cancellation because of Hurricane Harvey, the Quesoff will be back on Saturday, August 25, where groups will compete for the best cheesy dip. The queso competition is still looking for entrants too. It takes place at the Mohawk.

— Right on the heels of Cava’s first Austin debut on Guadalupe Street, the D.C.-based Mediterranean restaurant quickly opened its second location out in Westlake this week. It’s found on 3201 Bee Caves Road. Its hours are from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. There’s a third location in the works for downtown Austin.
