Houndstooth Coffee is growing quickly in Austin with its fourth city cafe up in the Rock Rose district in the Domain Northside. The new shop is taking over what had been Apanas Coffee & Beer at 11501 Rock Rose Avenue, opening sometime in the fall.

Much like its East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard cafe, the Rock Rose location will serve coffee, espresso drinks, as well as cocktails (including kegged ones), beers, and wines.

The space will feature multi-colored tile walls much like one of its Dallas locations. There will be communal seats like benches. Working on the space are Chioco Development and interior designer Kasey McCarty.

This will be Houndstooth’s fourth Austin cafe, and overall seventh Texas one, with branches in Dallas. Owner Sean Henry opened the first coffee shop on North Lamar in 2010. Its first foray into cocktails was with Jettison, its standalone bar in Dallas. That was followed by the East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard cafe, which added mixed drinks to the menu.

Coffee shop Apanas quietly closed both of its locations (the other down on South Congress) earlier this year.
