85C Bakery Cafe, the highly beloved Taiwanese bakery chain, opened its first Austin location in Highland on 6929 Airport Boulevard, as noted on Reddit and blogger Jane Ko. It is open for limited hours from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The “Starbucks of Taiwan,” as 85C is called, is especially known for its soft brioche and iced sea salt coffees. The pastry shop also offers up Taiwanese, Japanese, and European pastries and cakes, along with teas, boba teas, smoothies, and coffees.

The Austin 85C Bakery Cafe is found in the same shopping plaza as Asian supermarket chain 99 Ranch Market and conveyor belt sushi restaurant Kula.

85C is also in the middle of opening a second location out in Lakeline at 11301 Lakeline Boulevard, making that two Austin bakeries all together.

The first 85C opened in Taipei, Taiwan in 2003 by owner/founder Wu Cheng-Hsueh. The first American location in Irvine, California opened in 2008. There are two bakeries in Dallas, with one more to come, as well as two in Houston with two forthcoming locations.
