That Whataburger-Shiner Beer Collaboration Isn’t Real

— There was an image floating around Reddit boasting of a collaborative beer from Whataburger and Shiner Beer this past weekend. Alas, the Shiner Whatabeer isn’t a real thing, as verified by the Houston Chronicle. The image was done by designer Mark Fallis, who just make the fake advertisement because he wanted to “make something viral” and catch the attention of the companies’ advertising agency McGarrah Jessee.

— Cider company Austin Eastciders is releasing a new limited flavor for the summer: the lemon ginger cider. It’s available in six-can-packs (with a fun lemon-ginger print), as well as on draft at the cidery’s experimental tasting room on Springdale Road.

Alamo Drafthouse is joining the nationwide campaign to get rid of plastic straws. In general, straws will be only available by request at all locations of the dine-in movie theater chain, and it will switch to a biodegradable straw that is corn-based. Starbucks Coffee recently announced it will get rid of straws from all of its stores by 2020.
