— Indie rock band Speedy Ortiz has been partnering with local vegan restaurants during its American concert tour. Each participating restaurant is creating a special dish in honor of the band during each concert stop with funds being raised for local nonprofits. During its Austin show on Saturday, June 2, they partnered with vegetarian restaurant Bouldin Creek Cafe, which made the Brunchy 88: tofu scramble with spinach and mushrooms with vegan hollandaise sauce, plus blueberry cornbread, maple syrup, vegan butter, and tempeh sausage strips.
— Tiny Pies is hosting summer pie socials this season, where it will debut new pie flavors in collaboration with Texas vendors. This means ricotta and honey pie with Antonelli’s Cheese Shop and Good Flow Honey, vegan berry pie with Lick Honest Ice Creams, and the double espresso chocolate pie with High Brew Coffee and Srsly Chocolate. Each special pie will debut with free samples from 7 to 9 p.m. every week starting on Thursday, June 21 at the 2032 South Lamar Boulevard pie store, and the pie flavor will be available for purchase throughout that week up in the 5035 Burnet Road shop. The last week is on Thursday, July 26. Money is being raised for nonprofit Jeremiah Program.
