Erin Russell is associate editor of Eater Austin, a native Austinite, and a big fan of carbs.

Beloved Texas grocery chain HEB has expanded its in-store restaurant offerings to include freshly made tacos. The restaurant is called True Texas Tacos, found in the supermarket at 17238 Bulverde Road in San Antonio.

True Texas Tacos has a menu of 12 tacos, with options for breakfast tacos. The meaty tacos include brisket (also available on breakfast tacos), barbacoa, carne guisada, picadillo, and beef and chicken fajita. There’s the option for corn or flour tortillas, as well as add-ins like beans or bacon. All tacos are under $3, but per usual, guacamole is extra.

The entire taco menu is served until 2 p.m. Unfortunately, an HEB representative said there are no plans to expand True Texas Tacos to Austin yet, but the city can still hope.

HEB has a number of culinary offerings, though not all are available in Austin. There’s True Texas BBQ (which is available at nine locations around the state), South Flo Pizza (at ten locations, including Round Rock and Austin), Stackers sandwiches (11 locations including Austin and Round Rock), and Flaming Bird Rotisserie (39 locations, including Austin). Some locations, like Mueller and 620, also have its own exclusive cafe.

As a reminder, HEB bought on-demand delivery company Favor earlier this year.
