It’s been a long time coming, but beloved Austin beer garden and bakery Easy Tiger is finally aiming to open its North Austin location sometime this September. It’ll be found at the Linc on 6406 North Interstate 35 Frontage Road. New to this Easy Tiger, which is almost three times larger than its original Sixth Street home, will be the coffee drive-thru.
The extra space will come in handy since it will house its commercial bakery, baking up breads and pastries. The dining building and room will feature windows looking into the production areas, including baking, fermentation, and the sausage and charcuterie spaces. There are plans for a dedicated area where Easy Tiger head baker David Norman and guest chefs will host classes and events, too.
Then there’s the usual indoor space with beer garden featuring ping-pong tables, an outdoor stage, and plenty of parking. It’s being designed by Furman + Keil with interior design by VeroKolt and construction by IE² Construction.
Easy Tiger originally opened under the ELM Restaurant Group in 2012 on 709 East 6th Street. It expanded with locations in Whole Foods 365 in Cedar Park and downtown food hall Fareground. The Linc location was announced in 2014. Easy Tiger broke off from the company earlier this year.
Norman is also in the process of working on a baking cookbook, Bread on the Table, which is being published in September 2019.
The Linc also contains the Austin Film Society, Lima Criolla Peruvian Restaurant, boozy Tex-Mex restaurant Vivo, Pluckers Wing Bar, and the forthcoming Tio Pepe Chicken.
