8 Track, a restaurant and bar from the owners of Kung Fu Saloon, is heading to 2805 Manor Road. The Central East Austin development, just on the southern edge of Cherrywood, comes from real estate investment group Lincoln Ventures and members of KPG Hospitality, which also owns Kung Fu Saloon. Information available about 8 Track is sparse, as questioned by many tipsters, and Eater has reached out for updates.
8 Track seems to be part of a new development called The Station, which also includes office buildings and entertainment space. Per an employment ad, which lists the KPG address as its office, 8 Track is a “neighborhood restaurant and bar loaded with active games and a touch of retro vibe,” which sounds a lot like Kung Fu Saloon.
Elsewhere, renderings for the Manor Road development also include an entertainment space called The Yard (which is the same name as South Austin’s St. Elmo district The Yard). However, that site also mentions the restaurant opening in fall of 2016, which clearly didn’t happen.
The Lincoln Ventures site mentioned that the restaurant is a sizable 6,000 square feet, with 3,000 square feet of patio space. It also noted that 8 Track will “will feature some of Austin’s favorite food vendors.” That language would normally indicate food trucks, and in fact, they are mentioned in a rendering for the Station, but there is also an chef de cuisine attached to the project and ads out for line cooks.
8 Track’s chef de cuisine is Tanner Gill. He posted a testing dish of fried chicken and churros to his Instagram sometime in January. Gill was previously at a couple of restaurants in Florida.
Eater has reached out for further comment on the restaurant and will update after receiving additional information. Know anything about 8 Track? Contact us via the tipline or email at austin@eater.com.
