Dream Bakery Cafe, known for its custom cakes in Anderson Mill, expanded with a new bakeshop up in Wells Branch. It took over what was Bribery Bakery’s original location at 2013 Wells Branch Parkway, Suite 109. It opened in late March.
The new bakery will serve up cakes, as well as pastries, like muffins, croissants, cinnamon rolls, tarts, scones, and cookies, along with savory lunch dishes like mac and cheese, soups, and vegetable wraps. Plus there will be ready-made whole cakes and cakes by slice. Then there’s coffee, tea, juices, and sodas.
As for the space, Dream kept the cute look of the bakery, from the pink wallpaper to the pink pastry display case to light fixtures.
Because of the new location, the Anderson Mill bakery will cut back and only focus on customized cakes, including ones that look like beer cans, burgers, or whiskey kegs.
Dream Bakery’s Wells Branch hours are from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Monday.
The original Dream Bakery opened in 2005 in Anderson Mill by Azar Owlia. Karen Fry took over the bakery in 2016.
Bribery Bakery owner Jodi Elliott first closed the Mueller location of Bribery Bakery in August 2017, just a little over a year since it opened. She then closed the original bakery in Wells Branch in January 2018.
Quack’s 43rd Street Bakery is taking over Bribery’s Mueller location and will turn it into Lady Quackenbush’s Cakery, which will house the bakery’s cake production, as well as cookies and other sweet treats. Quack’s is also expanding to South Austin with Captain Quackenbush’s Coffeehouse, to be found in the former Strange Brew Cafe.
