— San Antonio chef Jason Dady is opening a new barbecue restaurant in the Alamo City, Alamo BBQ Co., which is now open. It’s taking the place of his other restaurant, Bin Tapas Bar, on 511 East Grayson Street. The change was needed. “There’s not a lot of money in tapas after you pay rent, labor, and all those things that go into operating a restaurant,” he told the San Antonio Express-News. On the other hand, “there’s always demand for good barbecue.” This is his second barbecue restaurant, after Two Bros. BBQ Market with pitmaster Laura Loomis. She will be in charge of the new restaurant’s pits as well.

— 6th Street bakery and beer garden Easy Tiger is adding a new late night menu, serving the after-hours masses of downtown. The menu spans pretzels, breads, cookies, and pastries. It’s is available from midnight to 2 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday

— Both Haymaker and Black Sheep Lodge are opening early for most of the World Cup games (minus the Saturday, June 16 game between France and Australia). Both bars will serve breakfast menus with tacos, sandwiches, and cinnamon, plus beer pint and pitcher specials of Whitestone Konverter Kolsch.
