How to Celebrate the Royal Wedding in Austin

The highly anticipated Royal Wedding is almost here, when Prince Harry and American actress Meghan Markle will get married on Saturday, May 19 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle just outside of London. The festivities begin at noon British Summer Time, which means an early 6 a.m. call time for those watching in Austin.

For those royal obsessives follow all of the weekend wedding happenings, Austin restaurants are partaking in various watch parties. Everything below takes place on Saturday, May 19, unless otherwise noted.

  • Of course, British coffee shop and bakery Brentwood Social House is hosting a special afternoon tea the day before the wedding. People are encouraged to dress up while eating cake, drinking prosecco, and getting party favors of the couple. It takes place on Friday, May 18 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. (1601 West Koenig Lane, Brentwood)
  • For the occasion, Tiny Pies is making British pudding Banoffee pies in jars. It’s made with toffee, bananas, whipped cream, plus pecan toffee pieces. (5035 Burnet Road, Brentwood; 2032 South Lamar Boulevard, Zilker)
  • Cherrywood bar Haymaker is going all out for its watch party, with hosts, bingo, outfit contests, wedding cake, and a special breakfast menu. It runs from 5:45 to 10 a.m. (2310 Manor Road, Cherrywood)
