— Austin-based juice bar chain JuiceLand opened its next local location on 2210 South First Street in Bouldin. It debuted over the weekend with the same smoothies, juices, lattes, and grab-and-go food. This is its 22nd Austin-area shop.
— Italian restaurant Juniper won this year’s Official Drink of Austin. The restaurant’s mixologist Ryan Foster created the Town Lake Yacht Club, which was mixed with Cynar 70, Italicus Rosolio, Waterloo gin, strawberry preserves, lemon, lime, and orange slices.
— Salt Lick wants to open a winery on its Driftwood grounds, but, according to Texas law, it can’t make booze while running a restaurant that serves alcohol.
— North Burnet brewery Circle Brewing Co. can now sell to-go beer cans and growlers because of its new brewpub permit.
— North campus pastrami truck Otherside Deli is starting a burger night this week, Tuesday, May 15. The patty is made up of cut-up pastrami. The burgers are available in any style similar to its sandwiches, or with grilled onions, Russian dressing, and coleslaw. Going forward, it will take place starting at 6 p.m. every Tuesday.
— Uchi’s sister restaurant Uchiko is teaming up with Juniper for its next dinner collaboration, the KoLab series. Expect sushi and pasta from Uchiko chef de cuisine Ed Sura and Juniper chef de cuisine Amanda Turner (who wants to open her own Austin Japanese restaurant), as well as a suckling pig porchetta and Italian sausages. Reservations for the dinner on Monday, May 21 are $175 per person. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
