Beloved Austin-based frozen sweets spot Amy’s Ice Creams is expanding with a new store in Cherrywood. It’ll be found on 2002 Manor Road sometime in the fall, according to a release by real estate firm CBRE.
The ice cream menu will be the same as the others: seven steady flavors (including the signature Mexican vanilla), along with rotating ones that range from fruits to boozy.
This new Amy’s will be found in the same shopping plaza as comfort food restaurant Hoover’s Cooking.
This is the first new location of Amy’s Ice creams in five years. Amy’s shuttered its further south Austin location on South Congress (not to be confused with the one on South Congress and The Circle) in October 2015 because of rising rents.
The original Amy’s opened on Guadalupe in 1984, and it quickly grew with locations throughout Austin, as well as Houston, San Antonio, and Smithville. This is its 13th Austin location and 15th overall one.
Amy’s also has a pastry offshoot: Baked by Amy’s, baking up cookies, bars, pies, and cakes in two locations. Founders Amy and Steve Simmons also run Honey’s, a Neapolitan pizzeria in Smithville.
