Uchi, the Eater 38 Japanese restaurant on South Lamar, is adding a new late night menu to its lineup, making its typically pricy menu a bit more affordable for post-dinner snacks. It will be available starting on Friday, April 27 at 9 p.m. until the restaurant closes from Sunday through Thursday. The catch? It can only be ordered from the patio when the weather is decent (i.e. no rain).

The albeit limited menu consists of three dishes. There are two onigiri (Japanese rice balls) options, one filled with fried sweet potato and the other with a grilled flank steak and a kimchi emulsion. Then, for dessert, there’s vanilla ice cream sandwich topped with hazelnuts and chocolate sauce. There’s a discounted sake offering as well. Read on for the full menu details and prices below.

The late-night menu is being helmed by new chef de cuisine Joe Zoccoli. His culinary career began at Uchi in 2011, and he worked at various sibling restaurants under parent company Hai Hospitality, like Uchi’s Houston and Dallas locations, what was Top Knot in Dallas (now Uchiba), and Uchiko. He was named chef de cuisine in January.

Uchi’s late night menu is available from 9 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.

Uchi and its sibling restaurant Uchiko already offer amazingly affordable happy hours. Owner and chef Tyson Cole opened a nearby Asian smokehouse restaurant with Aaron Franklin, Loro.
