Apanas Coffee & Beer, what was an Austin coffee shop with two locations in the city, is now closed. Both cafes, the first in Rock Rose and the second on South Congress, seemed to have quietly shuttered. The website is gone, though its Facebook page still exists.

First to go was the Travis Heights location on 1007 South Congress Avenue. Apanas’ southern home was turned into the leasing office for Cityview at Soco sometime in March. The overall apartment complex is undergoing renovations, beginning with the demolition of the building that housed long-shuttered 888 Mini Cafe (not to be confused with 888 Pan Asian Cafe on East Oltorf Street).

The Domain Northside cafe on 11501 Rock Rose Avenue shuttered more recently, sometime within the past week. A tipster attempted to go yesterday and found the cafe closed.

Owner Aamil Sarfani originally opened Apanas as Two Hands Coffee in January 2016 up in Rock Rose. The cafe changed its name to Apanas in 2016. The South Congress cafe opened later that year in September. The cafes focused on using fair trade coffee, along with beer and food from local restaurants.
