— Craft beer chain Ginger Man opened its Bee Cave location in the Hill Country Galleria earlier this week. The bar offers up over 60 beers, along with cocktails and food. The latter includes chicken wings, sandwiches, salads, and weekend brunch. Its hours are from 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Wednesday, and then from 11:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday. The downtown Austin location is going to relocate over to Plaza Saltillo, opening sometime in 2019.
— CultureMap announced the winners of its Tastemaker Awards last night. L’Oca d’Oro won restaurant of the year and Emmer & Rye’s Kevin Fink was named chef of the year. Although it hasn’t opened yet, The Brewer’s Table’s Zach Hunter was named rising star chef. Texas French Bread took home best wine program and neighborhood restaurant.
— Aaron Franklin is constantly working on improving Franklin Barbecue’s already-award-winning barbecue, according to Esquire. He also talked about how he really doesn’t eat barbecue on his own time.
— Along with Food & Wine’s best new restaurants list, restaurant editor Jordana Rothman shared her favorite dishes from the year. The Austin picks include migas tacos from Veracruz All Natural, the brisket/pickle/Swiss cheese klobasnek from Batch, and LeRoy & Lewis’ sweet potato salad.
— Nutty Brown Cafe’s move to Round Rock is on its way now that the owners agreed to spend over $10 million on the building and the city will forgo the site’s development fees and reimburse property taxes.
