One of the co-founding chef of Noma, the Copenhagen fine-dining restaurant that focuses on Nordic techniques and ingredients, Mads Refslund is coming to Austin for South by Southwest, where he will cook a series of five pop-up dinners from Friday, March 9 through Wednesday, March 14 (note that it skips Tuesday).
The dinners will be inspired by local Austin ingredients, along with some Nordic touches. There will be two different prix fixe menus, one at $75 and the other at $110. As for drinks, there will be organic wine and cocktails made with Nordic liquors.
Refslund’s dinners take place at the House of Scandinavia on 340 East 2nd Street (aka Cafe Blue). Reservations are available by emailing midnightsun@houseofscandinavia.net starting today. Hours are as follows:
Friday, March 9: 8 p.m. to midnight
Saturday, March 10: 7 p.m. to midnight
Sunday, March 11: 7 p.m. to midnight
Monday, March 12: 8 p.m. to midnight
Wednesday, March 14: 8 p.m. to midnight
Refslund opened New York Nordic restaurant Acme in 2012, and left in 2015. Before that, he ran another Copenhagen restaurant, MR. Noma opened in 2004 with head chef René Redzepi. That restaurant recently underwent a major relaunch with a new space and menu.
