— Campus spot Poke Bowl is back open after the shop had to temporarily close because of an alleged drunk driving car crash last fall. In honor of the reopening, it’s offering 30 percent off all meals today, Monday, March 5.
— Attendees and players of the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play will eat well when the games take place in Austin later this month. The food lineup includes Micklethwait Craft Meats, Torchy’s Tacos, Amy’s Ice Creams, Austin’s Pizza, and the Mighty Cone. It takes place from Wednesday, March 21 through Sunday, March 25.
— Austin Monthly named its favorite breakfast tacos in the city. The list is topped by Veracruz All Natural, followed by restaurants and trucks like El Primo, Tyson’s Tacos, Marcelino Pan y Vino, and others.
— Austin Under 40’s finalists include Swift’s Attic and Wu Chow’s CK Chin, McGuire Moorman Hospitality’s events director Fallon Gaskamp-Allison, and, interestingly enough, the husband and wife team behind Antonelli’s Cheese Shop, John and Kendall Antonelli, who are nominated separately under the Culinary Arts, Events, and Hospitality category. The winners will be announced during a gala on Saturday, May 19.
— Newly independent Easy Tiger is the only Texas bakery on Thrillist’s list of the best bakeries in the country, because of head baker David Norman’s carby creations like the pretzels, cinnamon knots, and the Tiger Claw.
— Austin’s Brass Tap owner Steve Sheets wants to open a brewery as part of the beer chain’s location in the Domain. He wants it to serve as a sort of beer collective, where brewers can come and make beers several months a year, as well as serve a Brass Tap-brewed beer.
