Annie’s Cafe, the downtown Austin restaurant right on Congress Avenue, is closing. The neighborhood restaurant’s last day will be on Sunday, April 22.
According to its website, the restaurant is shuttering so that owner Love Nance could turn her attention towards her other company, Paseo Brands. It oversees airport restaurants like the miniature version of Annie’s Cafe, Farm Aire, and Italian spot I Vini, all of which are found in the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
Paseo is working on Frescavola, which is dubbed as a bistro with a focus on wine and local foods. Annie’s Cafe’s airport location underwent recent renovations. Italian market, restaurant, wine bar, and cafe I Vini made its debut at the airport last summer.
Nance opened Annie’s Cafe in June 2009, located right next door to Swift’s Attic and Counter 3.Five.VII.
The stretch of Congress Avenue right in downtown Austin has been and will undergo major changes, from the forthcoming addition of adult entertaining restaurant and bar Punch Bowl Social, the Line ATX Hotel with three restaurants, the recent opening of fast-casual chain Newk’s Eatery, the addition of the city’s first food hall Fareground, and much more.
Annie’s Cafe’s Note
Annies recently sold its Congress Avenue property and will be focusing on new endeavors, including the recently expanded Annies & Farm Aire and our new concept, I Vini, a fast-casual restaurant, wine bar and market, both at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, gates 18-25.
To our treasured downtown customers and family of employees, thank you for years of extraordinary memories. All your favorite Annies menu items and classic dishes are still available at Annies & Farm Aire.
Until we see you again street-side, we look forward to seeing you at the airport.
The last day of service at the restaurant’s Congress Avenue location will be Sunday, April 22nd.
