There will soon be a new addition to Austin’s massive craft brewing scene, as reported by Austin Beer Guide. Batch Craft Beer and Kolaches is in the process of starting a brewery right near the shop in Mueller. Though still in the licensing process, owners Noah and Josh Lit are hoping to start brewing out of a 3 to 5 barrel brewhouse by the end of the year.
Josh Lit told Eater that opening a brewery has always been part of the plan for Batch. The pair engaged brewer John Snyder, the husband of Batch’s first employee Jasta. “Trying his beer just pushed it further ahead than expected,” Lit said. Once it’s up and running, expect a variety of Snyder’s brews, from wild barrel-aged beers to hoppy IPAs and pale ales.
Batch will serve four to eight of its brewed beers on the shop’s 12 available taps. Lit told Eater the beer will be a social process. “We really want to create a community and culture around the beer,” he said, “collaborating with musicians, artists, restaurants and other breweries. Most of all we love to drink beer, so we want to make what we like.”
Batch opened last August, serving savory and sweet kolaches, beer, and coffee. It’s particularly known for its kolaches stuffed with Micklethwait Craft Meats’ barbecue.
