Upstairs Circus, the mini-chain combining drinking and crafting, announced an opening date for its Austin location. It will host its first classes on Saturday, March 30, at 234 West 2nd Street in downtown.
The shop hosts “project socials,” which usually require a reservation, where participants craft as they drink. Projects options vary from easy (beaded necklaces) to difficult (leather passport wallets), and assistants are on hand to help. Prices range from $28 during happy hour to $42 on weekends (which includes bottomless mimosas).
In terms of food and drink, the bar has a circus-themed menu of cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine. The food menu is fairly sparse (popcorn and a cheese board). However, participants can order food from nearby restaurants, which include Second Bar + Kitchen, Jo’s Coffee, Taverna, and others.
The Austin Upstairs Circus will be open from 3 p.m. until 10 p.m. during the week, 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and noon to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
Upstairs Circus first opened in Denver, Colorado in 2013 and has since expanded to Minneapolis. Austin is the fourth location.
