South Austin Coffee Shop Adds Brunch Cocktails and Chicken Wing Truck

— In light of Houndstooth Coffee’s newest cafe (that serves cocktails) on East Martin Luther King Jr., Boulevard last month, Statesman sat down with owners Sean and Paul Henry to talk about how the brothers came to opening the coffee shops, how they paid equal attention to brewed coffee as they did to espresso, and their thoughts on Austin’s coffee scene.

— South Austin coffee shop and beer garden Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden is adding brunch cocktails to its lineup. The weekend morning, available starting tomorrow, Friday, March 3, includes Bloody Marys with brisket jerky from on-site trailer LeRoy & Lewis, house cold brew with (512) Brewing Company’s pecan porter, and shareable Micheladas. The full brunch cocktail menu follows below. It’s available starting tomorrow, Saturday, March 3 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends.

Chicken wing trailer Tommy Want Wingy is also setting up at the beer garden, joining new-school barbecue spot LeRoy & Lewis and taco trailer Pueblo Viejo. It will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner starting on Tuesday, March 6. The shop is also adding weekend cereal soft-serve later this month.

— Those volunteering for It’s My Park Day with the Austin Parks Foundation can take advantage of special restaurant deals on Saturday, March 3. This includes half off an item at Fresa’s Chicken al Carbon’s South First location, 20 percent off any purchase at Cosmic Coffee and all locations of Trudy’s Tex-Mex, and a free lemonade from any P. Terry’s location with no purchase required.

— Veggie Heaven’s new Hancock restaurant Yoshi Ramen is now open with full hours from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for lunch and dinner.

— Amy’s Ice Creams CEO Michael Hartman is leaving the ice cream company.
