Mississippi-based fast-casual restaurant chain Newk’s Eatery is opening in downtown Austin on Saturday, March 17, down in the historic building on 408 Congress Avenue.
The general American menu spans sandwiches, salads, soups, pizza, and desserts. For downtown office workers, there’s a go-to section. The peg of the restaurant is what it dubs as The Roundtable, an area dedicated to all sorts of condiments from garlic in olive oil, cheese, breadsticks, pickles, and more, available at no extra costs.
This location of Newk’s is pegged as the chain’s Austin flagship. The space includes a rooftop patio with a sliding garage door, boasting of downtown views. Downstairs, there’s an open kitchen.
The downtown Newk’s took over the address that used to be home to nightclub Avenue. Across the street is another fast-casual restaurant, though with a healthy bent: Modern Market, which opened in January
Newk’s hours are from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. This is Austin’s second location of Newk’s, with the first found up at the Arboretum.
