— East Cesar Chavez barbecue spot EastSide Tavern is getting into breakfast next week on Monday, February 12. Morning dishes include breakfast tacos, sandwiches, and bowls with eggs, brisket, potatoes, cheese, guacamole, bacon, beans, and much more. Most everything runs for under $5, with the exception of the signature barbecue breakfast sandwich which comes with home fried potatoes for $9.50. It is available from 7 to 11 a.m. on the weekdays.
— Turkey & The Wolf, the popular New Orleans sandwich shop, is popping up at South Congress wine cafe June’s for an a la carte dinner. The dishes include bologna sandwiches, lamb neck roti, fried chicken pot pies, and more. It takes place on Monday, February 19.
— Last night, the Austin Food & Wine Alliance announced the winners of its annual culinary grant awards. This includes $5,000 for vegan bakery Skull & Cakebones so the vegan bakery could expand its bread offerings and $5,000 for barbecue trailer LeRoy & Lewis to help its future brick-and-mortar transformation. Other winners include Snodgrass Farms, Fond Bone Broth, Hills of Milk & Honey Farm, The Cook’s Nook, Farmshare Austin, and Yard to Market Cooperative.
— Chronicle writer Beth Sullivan wrote a thoughtful piece about the state of local Asian grocery stores and supermarkets in the light of the impending arrival of out-of-town chains H Mart and 99 Ranch Market. Places like Hana Word and Asahi Imports are very concerned about their businesses.
— Henri’s Cheese’s forthcoming restaurant Hank’s is hiring for all front of and back of house positions right now. It’s hosting a job fair at the Sunset Room on 310 East 3rd Street on Tuesday, February 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The all-day Windsor Park restaurant is set to open sometime this winter.
— Delta is opening a Sky Club in the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, which will include food and drink for members of the airline’s club.
