West Sixth bar J. Black’s Feel Food Lounge has closed, after over a decade as a landmark of the entertainment area. Its last day of service was on Saturday, February 17, as announced on Facebook. No word yet on what will happen with the space.

J. Black’s first opened in Austin in 2007 as part of The Manera Restaurant Group. It was known for pizzas and drinks, and served as the official watch party site for Philadelphia Eagles fans for a time. The restaurant branched off with a Dallas location in 2010, which closed in 2015, and a Houston location in 2013, which closed in 2017.

The Manera Restaurant Group also operates freshly opened Southern seafood kitchen TLC in the Lamar Union. Given that four restaurants in the complex have closed (Cantine, Delicious, El Burro and most recently Vox Table), the group might be facing an uphill battle, though it has been crowded. J. Black’s Sean Fric is also involved with Mueller’s new Southern restaurant Colleen’s Kitchen and cocktail bar The Golden Goose.

The Manera group faced scandal a few years ago when board member Judson V. Sutherland faced prostitution charges in 2015 stemming from an FBI sting.
