New Korean Fried Chicken Restaurant Opens in Lakeline Mall

Plus a new downtown lunch menu with sushi and katsu sandwiches, and more news

Korean fried chicken spot Donkey Mo’s opened its second restaurant within the Lakeline Mall’s food court at 11200 Lakeline Mall Drive in Cedar Park. The menu features that Korean fried chicken, plus kimchi bacon fries, creamed corn, and more. Donkey’s first opened in Austin’s H Mart, taking over what had been pegged to be chef Deuki Hong’s Korean fried chicken spot Sunday Bird.

— Downtown Pacific-Asian restaurant She’s Not Here is adding lunch to its hours starting on Monday, December 17. The daytime menu takes its inspiration from Japanese cuisine, offering chicken katsu sandwiches, sushi bento boxes, rice bowls like chirashi, and more. Non-alcoholic drinks with shiso, passionfruit, and pomegranate, among others. Scope out the full menu below. It’s available only on the weekdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

— After digging through the wonderful state of Tex-Mex barbecue in Austin for Texas Monthly (yes, Valentina’s Tex Mex BBQ is featured prominently), barbecue editor Daniel Vaughn sorted through his ranked list of the best dishes in the category. Valentina’s tacos were #2 (he couldn’t settle on just one taco) and Micklethwait Craft Meats’ barbacoa Frito pie at #6. For the unranked portion of the list, there’s Brotherton Black Iron BBQ’s smoked brisket carne guisada and LeRoy & Lewis’ smoked beef cheeks

— San Saba winery Wedding Oak is moving its Fredericksburg tasting room at Wildseed Farm to another location within the Hill Country city along 290. Its last day at 316 East Wallace Street will be on Monday, December 31, but its main operations will remain in San Saba. The new Fredericksburg tasting room is set to open in spring 2019.
