Essential Vegetarian Restaurant Opening Second Location in Round Rock

Essential vegetarian restaurant Swad is opening a second location up north. The new location of the Indian restaurant will be at 1401 South IH 35 #220 in Round Rock. It should open in January 2019.

—The finalists for the Good Food Awards are up, and three Austin-area companies made the cut. Argus Cidery is up in the cider category, Barrel Creek Provisions in the pickles category, and Still Austin Whiskey Co. in the spirits category. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in San Francisco in January.

—Miguel Vidal of Valentina’s Tex-Mex BBQ shared the story of how those famous tacos came to be with CNN Travel. He also talks about his roots, his smoking style (mesquite wood, offset pits), and how cooking brings his family together.

—Bumble announced “BumbleSpots” — places to meet up that Bumble has approved for safety. The first approved locations in Austin are Caroline Restaurant and Upstairs at Caroline, W Hotel Living Room Bar, Jo’s Coffee, Craftsman, Wild Chix and Waffles, Dirty Bill’s, and Be More Pacific. The dating, friendship, and networking app also approved Moxy Hotels nationwide.
