Dominique Crenn, author and chef of acclaimed tasting menu restaurant Atelier Crenn in San Francisco, was just announced as a panelist for South By Southwest in 2019.
Crenn will speak on a panel with former New York Times columnist Mark Bittman and Matt Barnard, the co-founder of indoor farming startup Plenty. The panel is titled “Localizing Food to Restore Human Health.” The three will explore homogenization, access to food, and the idea of making food real and healthy for people.
In addition to Crenn’s numerous accolades including Eater’s Best Chef of the Year in 2015, San Pelligrino’s Best Female Chef of the Year in 2016, and a James Beard Award winner, Crenn has been an outspoken voice in the culinary world. She has advocated for more female representation in award competitions, called out sexism, and has a reputation for treating restaurant staff well.
Atelier Crenn’s accolades include two Michelin stars, barely missing the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2017, and a four-star review from San Francisco Chronicle critic Michael Baer. Crenn also operates Bar Crenn and Petit Crenn in San Francisco, and was featured on the second season of Chef’s Table.
