Vegan ice cream purveyors Sweet Ritual, toy store Toy Joy, and candy shop Yummi Joy are joining forces again in a second location in Hyde Park. The trio of companies, currently working together on Second Street, are temporarily housed together again at 4631 Airport Boulevard, Suite 114.
The rejoining happens as Sweet Ritual is remodeling its space at 4631 Airport Boulevard, Suite 125. This expansion will double the size of the location and increase its production capabilities. Construction on the new shop should complete in late-November, and during this time, it will open a pop-up shop in Toy Joy.
Toy Joy, meanwhile, has expanded Yummi Joy to the north location, which opened in November 2017. The shop has all kinds of sweets, inclusive of special diets, along with fudge and truffles. Unlike the downtown store, it will not serve sodas or coffee (or ice cream once Sweet Ritual takes its leave).
The three brands have a long history of working together. Toy Joy, which opened in Austin in 1987, opened Yummi Joy as a standalone shop in September 2017. Sweet Ritual grew from co-founder Amelia Raley serving vegan ice cream out of a Toy Joy, before joining with co-founder Valerie Ward and opening a shop in 2011.
Yummi Joy and Toy Joy are open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Sweet Ritual keeps the same hours but starts later, at 11 a.m.
