— Chinese restaurant Old Thousand is launching a monthly vegan dinner, with the first one taking place Tuesday, October 9. Highlights include kung pao vegan wings, mushroom fried rice, Buddha’s Delight with sweet potato noodles and veggies, cold sesame noodles, and coconut panna cotta. The vegan menu is available as a prix fixe or a la carte, and the regular menu will be served as well.
— North Austin wine bar and restaurant Rotten Bunch is adding a cocktail menu, and to implement it they consulted Austin bar expert Justin Elliott (formerly of The Townsend and Juniper). The cocktail menu, which features Southern and mediterranean influences (think: Mediterranean Hurricane), will go into effect Tuesday, October 9.
— Kerbey Lane Cafe has created an “open book management system” that makes its financials available to all employees.
— Laura Christie, a certified Cicerone and owner of Hopsimath Beer Education, is hosting a four-week series of classes at The Brewer’s Table, starting today, October 8. Classes cover topics like the history of beer and the brewing process and hops and wood. Tickets are $12 per one-hour class.
